Appointed to the Pension Administrator position for the City of Fort Lauderdale General Employees' Retirement System by the Board of Trustees. He will begin serving GERS members on April 25, 2016.
Nicholas Schiess graduated from the University of Central Florida where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He has served as an Administrator for government defined benefit pension plans in the State of Florida since 2002. During his career as a third party administrator, he has managed the day-to-day operations of several Florida municipal pension plans for general employees, police officers and firefighters. Among Mr. Schiess’ credits and accomplishments; he has supervised the daily activities of a staff of pension professionals, trained administrative and managerial personnel new to the pension arena, been a speaker on pension administrative issues at educational conferences, conducted seminars, organized workshops and oversaw the creation and establishment of a new satellite pension office.
